In an exciting moment during the 12th match of the International League T20 (ILT20) 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Gerhard Erasmus and Ibrahim Zadran pulled out a jaw-dropping joint effort to reject Andrew Russell. The spectacular catch became the highlight of the dominant performance of the Gulf Giants against the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders.
The stunning dismissal came in the 15th over of the Knight Riders’ innings. Facing left arm spinner Ayyan Afzal KhanRussell looked to launch a full delivery into the stands with a powerful slog. The ball rose high, traveling almost beyond long, but Erasmus, situated near the boundary rope, jumped to pluck it out of the air with one hand. Realizing that he had lost his balance and was about to cross the boundary, Erasmus threw the ball in mid-air to Zadran, who ran from deep mid-wicket to complete the catch. The dismissal not only showed incredible athleticism but also highlighted the flawless coordination between the two fielders.

Despite a strong start, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders could only manage 176/9 in their 20 overs. Michael-Kyle Pepper anchored the innings with a quickfire 57 off 35 balls, but the team struggled to maintain momentum after his dismissal.
Aayan emerged as the star bowler for the Gulf Giants, delivering a spectacular spell on 4/16 to dismantle the Knight Riders’ middle order. His accurate and disciplined bowling, coupled with the fielding brilliance of Erasmus and Zadran, kept the scoring in check during the latter half of the innings.
