Sotheby’s has scored big for Tom Brady.
The auction house did its thing “AGUNTZA Collection” sale Tuesday night, selling 41 items offered for a total of $9 million. The lots included watches, jerseys and other sports treasures. The watch alone brought in $4.6 million.
Brady’s 1969 yellow gold Rolex Daytona Paul Newman “John Player Special” sold for $1.1 million, making it the highest-selling item at auction.
The watch was first worn by Brady during the 2023 National Football League season at a ceremony at Gillette Stadium, where owner Robert Kraft announced that the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback would be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame.

Four collectors battled to own a piece of Brady’s history during his University of Michigan days. The jersey he wore on his final college game day fetched $792,000. Brady scored four touchdowns and passed for 369 yards in that iconic game.
The sale highlights Sotheby’s success in delving into the world of sports collecting.

“Regardless of team loyalty, collectors eagerly flocked to admire these mementos of Tom’s iconic career, honoring and respecting the GOAT’s remarkable achievements,” said Brahm Wachter, head of modern collections at Sotheby’s.
Sport has been a bright spot for Sotheby’s, bringing in new and younger customers.
The auction house says that of the 800 people who signed up for Tuesday’s auction, 34% were new customers and 40% were under 40.
“I’ve been blessed to have an amazing journey in my career, and these watches and collectibles capture those unforgettable moments and the hard work behind them,” Brady said ahead of the sale.
