The Trump inauguration moved indoors due to a bitter cold forecast

(NewsNation) — President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration has been moved indoors after forecasts showed bitterly cold weather expected for Monday, according to NewsNation’s partner The Hill.

Trump and Vice President JD Vance will take the oath of office in the Capitol Rotunda as opposed to the usual location on the west front of the Capitol.

The forecast for Washington, DC, shows an expected high in the low 20s on Monday, with a wind chill in the single digits.

That would make it the coldest inauguration since President Ronald Reagan in 1985. Reagan also moved his ceremony indoors due to the weather.

The change means fewer people will be able to watch the ceremony, which will also be televised.

About Truth SocialTrump wrote that the decision was made because he did not want anyone hurt or injured at the event, and said Capitol One Arena would be open for a live viewing and the opening parade.

Trump indicated he would join the crowd at the arena for his planned victory rally after his swearing-in.
