In a terrifying display of wrist dexterity, Noor Ahmed returned to the tide of SA20 2025 battle between Places called Sunrisers Eastern Cape and the Durban Super Giant with back-to-back Zak Crawley and Aiden Markram dismissals.
First, Noor outfoxed Zak Crawley, off the second ball of the 10th over, with a beautiful flying delivery that dipped deceptively in the air. Crawley, who was well set on 38 off 29 balls and struck hard, edged but failed to get the ball close. The delivery went wildly past his inside edge and flattened on middle stump, leaving Crawley visibly stunned as Noor celebrated a momentous achievement.
Riding high on the momentum, Noor unleashes another masterpiece to dismiss Markram on the very next ball. This time, the delivery was blasted full and bounced back outside off the off stump. Markram, attempting an ambitious drive, hit an all-out finish as the ball bounced off his pads. Although the initial appeals seemed half-hearted, the review proved decisive, revealing three reds in Ball Tracking and sealing Markram’s fate for a golden duck. The ball was shown to crash over middle and leg stump, underlining Noor’s accuracy and control. These two wickets in consecutive deliveries derailed the Eastern Cape batting and showed Noor’s ability to seize the opportunity under pressure.

Electing to bat first, Eastern Cape got off to a cautious start, losing David Bedingham Early 10. Crawley anchored the innings with a fluent 38 off 29 balls, providing stability during the powerplay. However, the Super Giants batted accurately in the middle overs. Noor’s brilliance turned the tide in the 10th over when he dismissed Crawley and Markram in successive deliveries. This double collapse left the Eastern Cape reeling at 75/3. Jordan Hermann tried to strengthen the innings but fell soon, courtesy another smart delivery from Noor. However Tom Abell‘s resilient 47 not out, the Super Giants’ disciplined bowling – led by Noor’s figures of 3 for 14 and supported by Naveen-ul-Haq – watched the Eastern Cape. At 117/4 in 15.1 overs, the Eastern Cape needed a late surge to set a competitive target.
