NFL fans fought back Patrick Mahomesafter Kansas The City Chiefs superstar bemoans the NFL’s grueling Christmas schedule.
Quarterback Mahomes, who has a 10-year, $460 million contract, is heading into a brutal stretch in which he and his teammates will play three times in 11 days.
Speaking earlier this week, Mahomes criticized the NFL and told reporters “it’s not a good feeling,” adding, “I’m excited to play on Christmas Day to hopefully bounce back from what we did last year (when the Chiefs lost to the Raiders) , but you never want to play so many games in so little time.
“It’s just not great for your body. But at the end of the day, this is your job, your profession. You have to come to work and do it.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, football fans took offense to Mahomes’ comments, comparing the multi-millionaire’s schedule to their own.
On social media, one wrote: “E Whittle (sic) Mahomes Will you cope with a heavy and hectic schedule coming up? Try to work around my schedule, whiny.

Fans have already set their sights on Mahomes, who earns about $46 million a year in base salary
“Someone give this baby his pasi (pacifier) to ‘suck him buttercup’.”
Another added: “Aweee Mahomes has to ‘work’ 3 days in 2 weeks and only gets paid $961k in that span.”
Others pointed out that the Steelers, Ravens and Texans are doing the same, but with far less fanfare than the defending Super Bowl champions.
Andy Reid’s superstar team will embark on their brutal three-game homestand starting this weekend when they face the Browns on Sunday before hosting the Texans on Dec. 21 and then traveling to the Steelers on Christmas day.
And while the Chiefs are sitting pretty atop the AFC with a 12-1 record, Mahomes seems to fear his team’s next few weeks.
In comments this week, he added: “All you can do is focus on the game and the training you had that day. I try to prepare my body all year for this stretch by adapting my training, adapting the way you train and prepare.
“The coaches do a great job of taking care of us on the field. We train as hard as anyone, but they know how to bring it back when we need it.
The Chiefs haven’t had a break since returning from their Week 6 bye, a fact that star defensive end Chris Jones was eager to point out.
“That’s one thing I’m doing this offseason is I’m going to the NFLPA, especially since we have three games in an (11-day) period that we’re obligated to have a late bye week,” he said.

“With our schedule, it’s inconvenient to say the least. … That’s a conversation for this offseason. If a team has anything like that schedule, they should get a bye at the end of the season. We don’t need a week (6) bye … Give it to us in week 8, week 10, something like that.
Mahomes and Co. will have a week and a half to recover from their Christmas game before facing the Broncos in Week 18 on Jan. 5.
And if Kansas City can get past the first round of the playoffs before Week 18 — as they currently hold a two-game lead in the AFC over the Bills — Mahomes and the team’s other starters could be held out of the final game of the regular season.
Then the quarterback wouldn’t play until Jan. 18 or 19 in the divisional round.
