Jude Bellingham has been announced as the future captain of Real Madrid by the Spanish press.
The English international has become one of the The white ones‘ star players following his £113m move Borussia Dortmund in 2023
He led the club to The league and Champions League glory in a debut campaign to remember last season, scoring 23 goals.
Bellingham started this season slowly but has bounced back to form, scoring six goals in his last six appearances in all competitions.
And a Spanish outlet AS did not hold back in their praise for the midfielder, calling him “Madrid’s new boss”.
The outlet claims he has what it takes to captain Real in the future given the work rate and leadership he has shown over the last month and a half.
Jude Bellingham has been announced as the future captain of Real Madrid by the Spanish press
The England international has become a key player for the Spanish giants since joining in 2023
One of the reasons for the publication is Bellingham’s decision to ease the pressure on Kylian Mbappe earlier this month by taking the first penalty in their 2-0 win over Getafe, with the Frenchman then scoring the second spot-kick of the game.
Bellingham’s all-round ability also stands out, with the 21-year-old a vital player in attack and defence, given that he has covered 59 kilometers in the Champions League so far this season, more than any of his team-mates.
During the 3-0 win against Girona last weekend, he berated Arda Guler for a poor decision on the ball, but went on to assist the youngster’s goal, and Bellingham was later seen hugging him on the bench. The Turkish star was said to be ecstatic.
Real are very happy with the Birmingham-born star. He showed why he was a “strategic signing”, a label reserved only for players who are perceived as the backbone of the team on the pitch and in the media.
Bellingham’s latest goal came against Atalanta in midweek as Real went into the Champions League clash needing a win, having fallen behind their rivals and in a position that could see them crash out of Europe entirely.
His goal was particularly impressive as he dropped his shoulder to trip an Atalanta defender before cutting in from the left and sending the ball into the net as the Spanish giants went on to win 3-2.
After the game, Bellingham joined Micah Richards for an interview with CBS Sports, where the pundit couldn’t help but give the Madrid star a big hug.
Richards then asked Bellingham about the game against Atalanta and his recent productive form in front of goal.

The 21-year-old has covered more ground than any of his teammates in the Champions League
He said of the match: “(It was) Tough. They played really well. They have amazing weapons and it’s a tough atmosphere to play. But it’s important that we got the job done as we needed those points.
“I think we were clinical at the end. We took the chances that came our way. They probably had most of the ball, but in areas that were comfortable for us. But it was such a tough game and that makes the win even better.”
He then turned to his goal saying: “I didn’t know where the ball was going! I had to bend over and I was waiting for it to hit my back and for everyone to start booing me.
“But luckily I was able to get one on one in the box and I swung something at him and it went in!”
Bellingham added: “Yes, even before I scored goals it was disappointing for me because I felt I was playing well.
“But because of the expectations I set last season, I always want to impact the game with goals and assists. If I can score goals and have a direct impact on the game then that makes me much more valuable to the team and that’s all I want to be. We hope I smelled it!”
