(NewsNation) — President Donald Trump will put pen to paper mondaysign a lot of announcements related to ending diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in the federal government, strictly defining two genders, and enforcing stricter limit security.
The president is expected to fulfill several campaign promises on his first day in the officebut many of his orders are likely to face legal resistance in the coming days.
An executive order is a signed statement of how the president wants the federal government to be run. They may come in the form of instructions to federal agencies or requests for reports.
“Today I will be signing a series of executive orders. With these actions, we will begin the complete restoration of America and the revolution of common sense,” Trump said during his inauguration speech on Monday.
Trump is expected to sign these orders Monday afternoon:
Trump will declare a national emergency on the southern border
This order would help the Secretary of Defense quickly and seamlessly deploy members of the armed forces to the border and free up more federal resources.
Trump wants to stop the capture and release of migrants
Border Czar Tim HomansaidThe Trump administration would end the federal “catch and release” program, which allows immigrants who entered the country illegally to remain in the country as long as they are in the asylum process.

Trump will reinstate the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy
During his first term, Trump implemented “Stay in Mexico” policy, also called the “Migration Protection Protocols,” which required asylum seekers to remain in Mexico until their claims were processed. Democratic President Joe Bidenthe administration ended the policy in 2022.
According to the order, this policy would bereinstated.
Trump will resume construction of the border wall
Trump began the construction of southern border wall during his first administration in an effort to prevent illegal crossings. As per the order, work would resume.
Trump will designate cartels as global terrorists
After being elected, Trump revived a campaign promise to designate Mexico’s drug cartels as terrorist groups.
“I will immediately designate the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations,” Trump said.
While in office in 2019, Trump dropped the plan at the request of then-Mexico President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who said he wanted US cooperation in fighting drug gangs.
Trump will suspend refugee resettlement for 4 months

This order will end DEI funding in government and will direct the Office of Management and Budget and the Office of Personnel Management to end “illegal mandates, preferences.”
“This will be a priority,” an official said.

The president said he would sign an order “to immediately end all government censorship and restore free speech to America,” during his inaugural address.
Trump to declare national energy emergency
Trump will declare an “energy emergency,” halting wind farm leasing and withdrawing from the Paris climate accord, among other measures under the order.
He said he wants to make America “a manufacturing nation again” by ordering mass oil drilling, which he plans to export “all over the world.”
Trump to sign order to reinstate expelled service members
Trump said he will sign an order reinstating service members who were “unfairly expelled from our military for objecting to the COVID vaccine mandate with full back pain.”
He also said he would sign an order to “stop our fighters from being exposed to radical political theories and social experiments while on duty.” It is unclear what Trump is specifically referring to.
The order will rename the Gulf of Mexico
Trump will issue an order to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.
Trump wants to rename Mount Denali
Trump said he is reinstating the name Mt. McKinley to a summit in Alaska during his inaugural address.
The mountain was first named Mount McKinely in 1896, before William McKinley became the 25th president. It was officially recognized by the government in 1917 and stood as the name until 2015.
In 2015, the Ministry of the Interior changed the name to Denali. It was the name traditionally used by the Koyukon people and is based on the Koyukan word for “high”.
