(News) – Democrats missed the chance to grill defense secretary Pete Hegeth About topics of national security while favors questions about his “drink” and “women’s elinization,” Donald Trump’s former national security adviser said John Bolton.
“I think the way the confirmation hearing was led to left it completely open to the Democrats to try to make the matter against Hegeth on the basis of competence, and they didn’t,” he said.
Bolton told Newsnations Elizabeth Vargas That Hegeth’s expertise was not fully tested during the consultation.
“What should you do in a tripolar nuclear world where China joins Russia and the United States (in terms of nuclear weapons)? So we just don’t know what (Hegeth) knows or doesn’t know – but we’ll find out somehow, ”Bolton said.
He believes that Hegeth, which prevents an unforeseen event, will be confirmed as defense secretary on Friday night.
Bolton’s security details recalled
He also approached President Donald Trump’s decision to revoke his security detail, a step that could potentially jeopardize the life of the former diplomat.
“I think this kind of attitude from Trump shows that what his real motivation was was completely political,” Bolton said. “This is part of the retirement campaign.”
Trump recalled the government’s security protection for former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, his supreme aid, Brian Hook and Bolton, all of whom have been exposed to threats from Iran since taking tough attitudes to the Islamic Republic under Trump’s first administration.
Bolton, who has been targeted at assault on Iran, said the republic is still looking for accurate revenge for the American murder of Iranian defense official Qassem Soleimani in 2020.
“President Biden back at the end of 2021 ordered that I receive protection,” Bolton said. “It was ordered on the basis of the reason why the Iranians threatened – and not just threatened, tried – to hire the hit to murder me was because I performed my official responsibility as a national security adviser.”
