A stunning century from Steve Smith and an inspired bowling performance from Sean Abbott proved to be the deciding factors in a high-scoring thriller.

Asked to bat first after losing the toss, the Sixers posted a formidable total of 220/3 in their 20 overs. Chasing a daunting target of 221, the Scorchers put up a valiant effort but fell short, managing 206/7 in their 20 overs. Ashton Turner led the charge with a 66* from 32 balls, hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes. Turner’s aggressive knock prevented the Scorchers from finding even the wickets falling around him.
Sam Fanning (41 off 29) and Cooper Connolly (33 off 23) made valuable contributions, while Matthew Spoors added 28 off 17 in the lower order. However, the Sixers’ bowlers kept on striking at crucial moments to derail the Scorchers’ momentum.
Sean Abbott was the standout bowler for the Sixers, delivering a match-winning spell of 4/43 in his 4 overs. His ability to pick up wickets at key moments, including the dismissal of the dangerous looking Connolly, tipped the match in the Sixers’ favour.
