- Williams was sorely missed as San Francisco lost 12-6 to the Rams
There was an embarrassing gaffe during Amazon Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football broadcast of the Rams-49ers game when a San Francisco star was misidentified.
Offensive tackle Trent Williams, who hasn’t played since Nov. 17, was inactive for his team’s potential loss with an ankle injury.
And Amazon’s production team believed they spotted the 11-time Pro Bowler on the sidelines as they mistakenly switched to a different player.
“There’s Trent Williams, who is a big part of the strength of this offensive line,” commentator Kirk Herbstreit said after the camera panned to the player.
“And they really lack up front. Not only because of the talent, but also because of his presence.
Prime Video also showed a graphic that identified the player as Williams and listed his accomplishments.

The real Williams was seen later that night in an apartment away from the sideline
However, the future Williams was actually Nesta Jade Silvera, a second-year linebacker currently on the team’s practice squad, according to Terrible announcement.
Aside from being black and sporting a beard like Williams, Silvera doesn’t look much like his teammate, and he’s also 12 years younger.
Fans and members of the media were quick to point out the gaffe, with FS1’s Emmanuel Acho among those who weigh down.
“Ummm Thursday Night Football this black man is NOT Trent Williams,” the former linebacker captioned a video of the X moment. “I repeat, wrong black man.”
Former offensive lineman Jeff Schwartz, now of SiriusXM and Fox Sports, too added“Trent Williams looks different” with laughing and crying emoticons.
The real Williams was eventually discovered by the Amazon show later in the night as he was seen sitting away from the sidelines in an apartment.
The 49ers lost 12-6 on the night and fell to 6-8 on the year as they saw their playoff hopes all but evaporate.
And they could use Williams on the field, as they failed to score a touchdown and registered just 63 rushing yards.
