Here’s the last day to send your gifts in time for the holidays

The countdown to Christmas is underway, but the threat of delayed packages can dampen the festive spirit.

Winter stormsOut-of-stock items, ground shipping risks, and many other issues can determine shipping delays in the days leading up to Christmas Eve.

More than half of Americans say they are worried about shipping delays this holiday season, according to an October survey. Badcredit.org.

“With a shorter holiday season, with only 17 shipping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we encourage everyone to ship early and often so you can enjoy the holidays worry-free,” Karen Tomaszewski Hill, media relations manager for US UPS, told CNN.

Businesses have also been steeling themselves for more holidays than usual. National Retail Federation confirmed this month holiday spending can increase by 3.5% last year and reached a new mark of 989 billion dollars.

E-commerce giant Amazon said in October that it would hire 250,000 transportation and warehouse workers to prepare for the shipping volume.

For shoppers looking to beat the holiday shopping crunch, here are the top shipping dates to consider for the 2024 season:

There is no UPS pickup or delivery service on Christmas Day.

– First class mail: December 18

– Priority mail: December 19

– Priority Mail Express: December 21

For Alaska and Hawaii:

– Soil: December 16

– First class mail: December 18

– Priority mail: December 19

– Priority Mail Express: December 20th

The USPS says the actual delivery date varies depending on the origin, destination and post office acceptance time.

– On the ground: December 23 (for one-day delivery option)

– Express Saver: December 19

– 2 Days & 2 Days: December 20th (extends to December 21st with Saturday pickup option and $16 per package surcharge)
