President-elect Donald Trump is expected to sign one record number of announcements Monday after he takes the oath of office.
The topics are expected to include temporary suspension of ban on TikTokmeasures to tighten border security, stop diversity mandates in the federal government, several dealing with energy policy and to stop what he called the “overclassification” of government documents.
“You’re going to see something tomorrow. You’re going to see orders that will make you extremely happy – lots of them, lots of them. We’ve got to put our country on the right course,” Trump said at a rally on Sunday evening.
President Biden signed a total of 22 executive orders during his first week in office, marks a modern record then.
“Someone said yesterday, ‘Sir, don’t sign so many in one day. Let’s do it over a period of weeks.’ I said, ‘like hell, we’re going to do it over weeks.’ We will sign them at the beginning … we will do them tomorrow,” Trump added.
As expected, some will deal with one of his top priorities: the border.
“The border security measures I will outline in my inaugural address tomorrow will be the most aggressive, sweeping effort to restore our borders that the world has ever seen,” he told the crowd.
There will be more executive orders dealing with energy policy: opening up areas and easing permits for oil and gas production, said two Senate Republican sources familiar with the plans.
The president-elect also promised that he would undo some of the recent executive actions passed by President Joe Biden. “Every radical, foolish executive order by the Biden administration will be rescinded within hours of me taking the oath of office.”
Trump told the rally that he will pardon a number of defendants accused of January 6 Capitol riots.
“Tomorrow, everyone in this very large arena will be very pleased with my decision,” referring to the Jan. 6 pardon.
Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Trump, teased on Sky News on Sunday that Trump could sign some orders inside the Capitol Rotunda shortly after being sworn in and then sign some additional acts later at Capital One Arena, where the presidential parade is now set in condition. to take place.
