One owner was beaming with pride after seeing his dog sitting calmly with the neighbour’s sheep and lambs, but in a split second that all changed with his hilarious reaction to them moving.
Kathrine Jensen lives next to a sheep farmer, like her golden retrieverBailey, had taken a special interest in ever since they moved in about four years ago. The sheep and lambs aren’t always in the field next to their house, but Bailey sits and admires them when they are.
“When we first moved into this house, Bailey had never seen a lamb before!” Jensen told Newsweek via e-mail. “He was very fascinated by them and just sat and stared at them for ages by the fence.”
But as her latest TikTok video revealed, Bailey can’t sit still all the time. Jensen said he usually stays calm for about a minute, but when a lamb moves, he’s off. In the clip, posted on the account @goldenlifeofbailey, Bailey started off “so well” until he got a burst of energy and started running back and forth along the fence.
“I think he thinks the sheep and lambs are dogs and he wants to play with them!” Jensen said.
However, his energetic movements in the video caused the sheep and lambs to run away, which happens every time, Jensen explained. Fortunately for Bailey, the animals don’t leave him alone for long.
“What people also don’t see from that very short video clip is that Bailey and the lambs would keep coming back to the same spot and then do it all over again,” she said. “It was like a game to them!”
Sometimes, though, Bailey gets “a little frustrated.” He hates that the fence blocks him from playing with them, resulting in him barking.
“I’ve tried to explain to him that he scares them away when he barks, but I’m not sure he understands,” Jensen said. “He just gets so excited.”
Cows will even visit Bailey, Jensen said. And if he’s really lucky, they’ll give him kisses through the fence, which he loves.
“Bailey has always been fascinated by farm animals since he was a puppy, especially cows, lambs and horses!” she said. “We love going on adventures in the mountains and woods, but sometimes it’s nice to just go and see all the farm animals in the fields. Bailey will sit down and refuse to go back home, even when the weather is bad! He could sit and see them all day.”
The precious TikTok video, which Jensen has shared before, has as of Friday collected over 208,500 views and 5,535 likes.
“When your inner thought kicks,” one viewer commented.
Another pointed out: “Can see the exact moment Bailey chose chaos!”
Another wrote: “He was like ‘SIKE!’
