In a display of incredible athleticism, David Warner took a stunning catch Mohammad Hasnain‘s bowling in Match 33 at Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 between Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers on Monday (January 13).
The third delivery of Hasnain’s 14th over is short and wide outside off, tempting Ashton Agar to go for an aggressive drive over the infield. Positioned in the middle, Warner read the shot flawlessly, tracking the ball as it flew through the air. Showing incredible speed and accuracy, he ran backwards to cover the distance and timed his jump perfectly.
With his body fully stretched and hands outstretched, Warner took the ball over his head, completing a catch that left the onlookers in awe. The dive adds a touch of drama, emphasizing the difficulty of the opportunity. Warner’s sharp reflexes and impeccable judgment turned what looked like a boundary shot into a dismissal. Those moments highlight his value as a fielder and his ability to lift the morale of his team with great brilliance.

The Scorchers’ bowling was led by Lance Morriswhich claimed 3/43 but proved expensive.
In reply, the Scorchers collapsed to 97 all out in 17.2 overs, unable to counter the Thunder’s disciplined attack. Chris Green (3/13) and Nathan McAndrew (2/21) shined the ball, breaking up the Scorchers’ lineup. Notable contributions for the Scorchers came from Aron Hardie (22) and Jason Behrendorf (17 not out), but a lack of cohesion cost them. Sharp fielding, including two crucial run-outs, sealed the win for the Thunder, boosting their playoff hopes.
